Simple Present: I, You, We, They

El simple present es uno de los tiempos más usados en inglés. Se utiliza para hablar de rutinas, hechos y cosas que ocurren regularmente. Hoy vamos a enfocarnos en cómo usarlo con los sujetos I, you, we, they.

¿Cómo funciona el simple present con I, you, we, they?

La regla es sencilla: el verbo se queda en su forma base, no cambia.

Estructura:

• Sujeto + verbo base + complemento

Ejemplos

• I play soccer on weekends. → Yo juego fútbol los fines de semana.
• You study English every day. → Tú estudias inglés todos los días.
• We watch movies on Fridays. → Nosotros vemos películas los viernes.
• They work in a hospital. → Ellos trabajan en un hospital.

Nota: Con estos sujetos (I, you, we, they) no se agrega -s al verbo.

Oraciones negativas

Para hacer oraciones negativas usamos do not (don’t).

• I don’t like pizza. → No me gusta la pizza.
• You don’t play tennis. → Tú no juegas tenis.
• We don’t study on Sundays. → Nosotros no estudiamos los domingos.
• They don’t live in London. → Ellos no viven en Londres.

Preguntas

Para preguntas usamos Do al inicio.

• Do you like music? → ¿Te gusta la música?
• Do they speak Spanish? → ¿Ellos hablan español?
• Do we have class today? → ¿Tenemos clase hoy?
• Do I need this book? → ¿Necesito este libro?
